Zeitgeist: Addendum är Peter Josephs andra Zeitgeist-film. Den första filmen är rätt kass och passar inte i den här bloggen, den består av en ganska irrelevant kritik av religion i allmänhet och kristendom i synnerhet varvat med 9/11-konspirationsteorier *gäsp*. Se den gärna för att ha sett den men låt den inte avskräcka dig från att se de senare filmerna som den här och Moving Forward.
I Addendum går man först in på hur det nuvarande internationella ekonomiska/politiska systemet fungerar men det är när filmen börjar blicka mot framtiden som den blir verkligt intressant i mina ögon. Jag håller absolut inte med om allt i filmen, jag har en annan syn på demokrati t.ex. och även om absolut inte tycker att religioner ska få komma ens i närheten av att styra ett samhälle så känns kritiken mot religion i allmänhet som något man kan diskutera en annan gång.
"Zeitgeist Addendum, attempts to locate the root causes of this pervasive
social corruption, while offering a solution. This solution is not
based on politics, morality, laws, or any other "establishment" notions
of human affairs, but rather on a modern, non-superstitious based
understanding of what we are and how we align with nature, to which we

Fresco and The Venus Project."
Internet Rising är en intressant och vacker dokumentärfilm om internets betydelse för mänsklighetens utveckling. Den är stundtals suggestiv och tar sig nästan mystiska uttryck. Utvecklas mänskligheten med hjälp av tekniken mot en superorganism. Det är en dokumentär som åtminstone fick mig att Wikipedia-surfa obskyra ämnen även om nästan allt kan få mig att börja Wikipedia-surfa obskyra ämnen om jag ska vara ärlig.

relationships between the Internet and collective consciousness of
humanity. It provokes many questions about ancient and modern paradoxes
of life, its pleasures and pains... and the gray area contrasts in

“THE INTERNET!
This
all pervasive contradictory tool is both devil and savior, endlessly
discussed, vilified, revered, used, abused—it is all things and nothing.
You
could pretty much say anything about it and it would probably hold
true, such is its strange power and slippery character. We’ve become
ever-so-slightly reliant on it, while also projecting our own metaphors
of what it should be or is—tainting it with a kind of technological
romanticism. We overrate it, take it for granted and find it eternally
fascinating and remarkable and a little bit annoying, too. We think of
it as being as important as the printing press yet the humble washing
machine supposedly facilitated greater change.
In their “digi-documentary” Internet Rising filmmakers
Andrew Kenneth Martin, Marina Eisen, and Alex Eisen hope to add to and
expand the conversation about what it all means while “investigating the
evolving relationships between the Internet and [the] collective
consciousness of humanity.” And, nobly, rather than just reaffirming
their own views it looks like they’ve tried to get a broad selection of
opinions from the various facets of people who are happy to express
them, and who are responsible for some of our most fundamental theories
about the web.
Talking heads
come flying at the screen in an attention-deficit barrage of cuts and
visuals, put through grainy video filters and glitchy effects to achieve
a tone and aesthetic that feels very much rooted in the visual language
of the internet. These headphoned interviewees peer out from their
webcams as distorted graphics ripple the screen among them are such
sages of the web as Kevin Kelley, Douglas Rushkoff, Vinton G. Cerf,
Tiffany Shlain, Jason Silva, members of Anonymous, the Executive
Director of Linux International, a doctor from an internet addiction
clinic, and countless other internet prophets, futurists,
singularitarians, and Second Life citizens—each offering his or her own
ruminations on what it all means.
It’s informative and entertaining—informataining, if we’re to coin a neologistic portmanteau.”
Om vi ska kunna fortsätta utveckla samhället i en högteknologisk riktning så är det otroligt viktigt att forska på energikällor som kan ersätta dagens fossila bränslen och oansvariga kärnkraft. Man utvecklar ständigt sol, vind och vattenkraft av olika slag men frågan är om det räcker. Dessa energikällor är ju dessutom beroende av lokala väderleksförhållanden och/eller geografi.
Man hör en del om forskandet kring fusionsreaktorer som man hoppas ska kunna ge energi utan att ge upphov till mängder av farligt kärnavfall men dessa verkar nu ligga flera decennier fram i tiden innan de skulle kunna användas kommersiellt i den mån de alls kommer att fungera. Fusion är dock inte den enda sortens alternativa kärnkraft det forskas kring utan det förekommer ju även forskning kring toriumreaktorer där åtminstone vissa typer av dessa verkar relativt säkra och skulle lämna ifrån sig mycket mindre och dessutom mindre farligt avfall. Hoppas att detta kan fungera som ett mellansteg till ännu säkrare energikällor.
Så, vad kan passa bättre 5 november än en film som presenterar Anonymous, hackarna som adopterade Guy Fawkes-masken som V bar i den tecknade serien och senare filmen V for vendetta. Här ges en mestadels positiv bild av dem men med vissa kritiska röster och det visas på varför de framstår så olika från ena stunden till den andra.
"WE ARE LEGION: The Story of the Hacktivists, takes us inside the complex
culture and history of Anonymous. The film explores early hacktivist
groups like Cult of the Dead Cow and Electronic Disturbance Theater, and
then moves to Anonymous' own raucous and unruly beginnings on the
website 4Chan. Through interviews with current members - some recently
returned from prison, others still awaiting trial - as well as writers,
academics and major players in various "raids," WE ARE LEGION traces the
collective's breathtaking evolution from merry pranksters to a
full-blown, global movement, one armed with new weapons of civil
disobedience for an online world."
Trevlig film som med flit är gjord som en jäkla blandning. Det är en bra film för att få lite översikt eftersom den presenterar en bred samling problem och även en bred samling av olika grupper och projekt som arbetar mot problemen som The Occupy Movement, The Zeitgeist Movement, Anonymous, The Venus Project, TROM, Free World Charter, Open Source Ecology, Transition Network, Atlas Initiative Group, Collapse Network och Freedom Informant Network. Filmen slutar i en positiv ton och har därför en hög peppfaktor.
